Glatti Musig zum Glette !
Happy Music for ironing !
Showtime mit Dixieland Jazz, Country Music, Western Swing and beautiful big
band sounds“.
Dear listeners
This program is especially directed to all ladies (and where applicable also to gentlemen) who are regularly burdened with ironing the family laundry.
Twenty-five years
ago I producedon Radio Thurgau “RTG, all
day and every day from the green Hörnli Mountains to the blue waters of
Constance Bay”„It’s Showtime with Dixieland Jazz, Country Music, Western
Swing and beautiful big band sounds“.
The last 30 minutes included NON-STOP easy-listening music. The program
was aired every third Wednesday of the month from 8 to 10 p.m. One day, while
shopping in the local super market, a shopper recognized my voice and asked:
“Are you Max Wirz, who plays that wonderful music of bygone days?” The question
surprised me and I expected some criticism. Instead, the lady commented the
show favorably and said: “You know, Wednesday is my laundry day and I spend all
evening ironing. With your music in the background, this is no longer gruesome but a pleasure! The ironing is done in a
jiffy and I find time to relax to your “easy-listening music” with a glass of
wine!” That was 25 years ago.
Now, just two weeks
ago I met with acquaintances to whom I present a CD from time to time. On that
occasion the discussion leader said: “I put the last CD on while I was ironing
and the pile of shirts, sheets and towels was done in no time!” That gave me the
idea to produce a selection just for “ironing ladies” and I hope, that this
music will let the iron glide over the shirts with ease and SWING.
To put you “In The
Mood” from the beginning I start with a Glenn Miller tune of the 1930s. Then
you’ll hear Billy Gorlt and his clarinet with his Whispering Ballroom Sound Orchestra
as well as music by different bands with different rhythms. And the last three
songs should set the background for relaxing under “Blue Skies”, for “Flying
Away” and for dreaming “Above The Clouds In Boundless Freedom”.
And now swing that
iron, let it glide over the shirts and have fun!
Sincerely yours,
Max Wirz
